Salary: £35K – £40K
Hours: Mon – Fri 8am – 5pm
Our client who are a global leader within their field are looking for a Buyer and as a Buyer, you will be responsible for securing the best prices for stock, actively seeking new products, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Your role is pivotal in maintaining a competitive edge through astute negotiation and proactive sourcing strategies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Price Optimisation: Identify and secure the most competitive prices for stock through thorough market research and negotiation with suppliers.
- Regular Price Reviews: Manage the buying prices review process ensuring alignment with market trends and optimise cost-effectiveness.
- Supplier Management: Continually seek and evaluate potential suppliers to establish relationships with those offering the best products at optimal prices.
- Negotiation Expertise: Employ strong negotiation skills to ensure favourable terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all purchased products meet compliance requirements, adhering to regulatory standards and internal agreements. Pro-actively advise on developments and recommendations with regards to compliance for new and existing product lines with updates as necessary.
- Indent Orders Management: Establish bespoke pricing structures for indent orders, ensuring cost efficiency and favourable terms.
- Sourcing Strategy: Working with the Product Development Team to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for sourcing bespoke products, expanding our product range and market competitiveness.
- Quality Assurance: Working with the QC manager to ensure that the stock delivered meets the specifications required and liaising with the suppliers to develop and maintain a quality process including claiming refunds and placing and monitoring stock into quarantine
- Administrative Duties: Manage the administrative aspects of the buying process, including documentation, records, and procurement workflow.
- Representative of the business: The face of the business in a buying capacity. Attend trade shows, client or supplier meetings or other adhoc in person/virtual attendance to either develop or provide insight into the department.
- Area management: Ensure all reports, systems and KPI are kept up to date and within remit. Developing reports and systems to optimise the running of the buying team.

- Proven Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and secure advantageous deals.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and supplier landscapes.
- Quality Assurance Acumen: Experience in assessing and maintaining product quality standards.
- Compliance Expertise: Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the industry.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to devise and execute sourcing strategies that align with company objectives.
- Organisational Skills: Strong administrative capabilities to manage procurement processes efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor relationships and internal collaboration.
- Language Requirement – Chinese Proficiency – Proficiency in spoken Chinese is desirable for effective communication with our Chinese-speaking suppliers. This role involves frequent interaction within this demographic.
- People Management: This role has the support of a buyer administrator and you will be required to ensure they are able to meet the requirements of their role and needs of the buying function
